At the heart of Incredible India, Madhya Pradesh has a little bit of everything on offer, as the MP tourism tagline will tell you. And it’s not just a marketing gimmick; from ancient forests teeming with wildlife to the many imposing forts and palaces of its former kingdoms, from marble cliffs that glow in the moonlight to numerous temples with intricate carvings, MP is full of history, heritage, religion, culture and natural beauty. During our time here we plan to travel from Gwalior with its famous iconic fort, through the ancient kingdoms of Bundelkhand and Baghelkhand, to the many forests and sanctuaries in the east, where we are looking forward exploring the jungles whilst staying at some beautiful wildlife resorts and homestays in Panna, Kanha and Satpura. We finally make our way to the important pilgrim spots and ghats along the mighty Narmada in the south, along the way exploring the rich textiles that exist in the state, the origins of the famous Chanderi saris, the influence of Islamic rulers in Bhopal and Mandu, and of course all the mouth watering food!
