Punjab is so much more than fields of green and gold, something we came to realise in our three weeks wandering the state. It has a wealth of history and monuments from the princely states of Patiala and Kapurthala to the towering forts of Bathinda and Ludhiana. It has a unique culture born of the legacy of the Gurus from the langar and volunteer traditions in the Gurdwaras to the warrior tradition of the Nihangs. And of course the connection Punjabis share, probably stronger than most other people, with the land they love and live off. A fiercely loyal people they maintain deep connections to their roots and past.
