Sometimes we forget what’s in our own backyard and the 50,000 year old Lonar crater, deep in Maharashtra’s hinterland tends to get left for the inevitable ‘later’.

Pack your bags we say, and go check out the only hypervelocity crater in the world in basalt rock, where a unique ecosystem has developed over thousands of years, and temples and legends jostle with migratory birds, snakes and the occasional leopard.
