Travel in India is best done by train, especially if you are on a budget. There is no better way to cover large distances and train travel in India is fairly comfortable, reasonably reliable and usually entertaining. A big part of the whole train experience is all the snacking that happens on board and no train journey is complete without the ever present call of Chaaiii, Coffeee, Cold drinks, Samosa!! Sometime the incessant hawking and constant movement of men walking up and down the compartment can get extremely annoying, especially if your trying to take a nap. But every now and again you come across something that makes your journey that little bit extra special.
On one of the very many train journeys we took in the Non AC compartment we came across this beaming ball of happiness. He went about his job of hawking peanuts with an enthusiasm that was uplifting and contagious. With him, the mundane task of selling peanuts transformed into a joyful process, as he swung his arms around, tossed the peanuts into a perfectly rolled cone with panache, and served up his salty snack with a magicians flourish and a 1000 Watt smile. Several 10 rupee cones of peanuts were bought, some extra just to see him perform once again and smile. His mere presence made the entire compartment light up and whilst it definitely did his business a world of good, it also made a regular train journey into a memorable one.
